To Agra
Delhi is really two cities sharing a name. Old Delhi is all narrow lanes, spice markets and the great red walls of the Mughals — loud, fragrant and wonderful. New Delhi, laid out a century ago, is its opposite: broad tree-lined avenues, colonial vistas and calm garden-tombs where you can hear birdsong in the middle of a capital.
Most India journeys begin here, and a rushed first day can colour the whole trip. Our Delhi team paces it kindly — a cycle-rickshaw weave past Jama Masjid, a paratha in a lane that’s fed the city for generations, then Humayun’s Tomb glowing at golden hour. Arrive, breathe, and let the capital win you over.
What to see & do in Delhi
- Red Fort & Jama Masjid — the Mughal heart of Old Delhi, best on foot and by cycle-rickshaw.
- Chandni Chowk food lanes — parathas, chaat and jalebi where locals have eaten for generations.
- Humayun’s Tomb — the garden-tomb that inspired the Taj, luminous at golden hour.
- Qutub Minar — India’s soaring 12th-century victory tower in weathered red sandstone.
- India Gate & the ceremonial avenues of Lutyens’ New Delhi.
- Gurudwara Bangla Sahib — the serene Sikh temple and its vast community kitchen.
- Lodhi Gardens & Sunder Nursery — where Delhi comes to breathe among tombs and lawns.
When to visit
Delhi is loveliest from October to March, when the days are mild and clear (mornings can be crisp in December–January). Summers are very hot; the July–September monsoon brings green gardens and dramatic skies. We plan sightseeing for cooler mornings and save markets and gardens for the golden evenings.
How Delhi fits into your trip
Delhi is the gateway of the Golden Triangle and the launch point for most of our journeys — Agra is 3–4 hours by road or a swift express train. Give the capital one full private day before you move on; it’s the difference between ticking a box and actually meeting the city.
Talk to a local, not a call centre
Landing in Delhi first? Ask us how to pace your arrival, where to eat safely in the old city, and how to reach Agra. A local replies within the hour.

Visiting Delhi — quick answers
One full day covers the Old and New Delhi highlights. Two days lets you slow down, add gardens, temples and a proper food walk.
Yes, with a local beside you it’s a joy. Our guide handles the lanes, the rickshaws and the where-to-eat so you can simply enjoy it.
Either works. Many travellers do a light arrival day here, then a fuller Delhi tour on the way back when they’ve found their feet.
